All three software packages have updates available this week.
ENOSERV RTS 5.1.0.0
17 OCTOBER, 2011

Testing data relating to Communication Systems, Voltage and Current Sensing Devices, Station DC Supply, & DC Control Circuitry: This RTS update contains enhancements specific to data control inclusive of all PRC 005-1 revised protection system components. Several of the enhancements are the result of user requests.
Windows 7 Advisory Caution: With the new write restrictions of Windows 7, we must stress how important it is that companies running Windows 7 establish a folder location with read/write capabilities that all RTS Users can access. This readable/writable location will hold ENOSERV RTS/Vector databases and other editable files.  When working with the Windows 7 operating system, files located in the Program Files directory can't be edited and instead are copied to an obscure/hidden folder location under that Users name. All modifications are applied to the new hidden file, not the file in the Program Files location.  This will cause a great deal of confusion when attempting to copy the file (C:\Program Files\ENOSERV\) or if another User attempts to access RTS/Vector data.  ENOSERV wants to leave the final destination of the database(s) up to IT Admins familiar with virtual folder redirection.

ENOSERV PowerBase 6.1.4.0
17 OCTOBER, 2011

Fault Files: PowerBase can now integrate with any software that handles COMTRADE files—not just WaveWin software. Additional security controls of Fault Files have been added.
Importing: Users have the ability to preview and allow or disallow individual nameplate and setting changes.
Exporting: PowerBase will export information based on device status.
Nameplate: The Last AF Result and the Last AL Result are now tracked in the nameplate field.
Relay Groups: PowerBase stores device status information of relay groups and will link non-relay devices for RTS exporting.
Report Generator- We have added the ability to specify order by clause in report development. We have added the functionality to run logic on runtime of the report. So if a User wants to select a specific substation, PowerBase will ask the User which substation to report on each time a report is run. We have enhanced the ability to report on results, such as data held in the RTS Results NP table and trending reports for any f10-f20 variable for all tests regardless of FasTest type or traditional test type.
Settings Forms: Setting forms can be created from SEL AcSELerator.
Setting Status Variables: Users have the ability to change the setting status variables. Previously, only two of six variables could be changed.

ENOSERV Vector 5.2.6.0
17 OCTOBER, 2011

Four major improvements have been made to Vector in 2011:
1. Vector now supports the Manta MTS-5000.
2. Vector now supports the Megger MPRT.
3. Vector now replays transient event records in COMTRADE format.  This functionality applies to the Doble F6150, the Megger MPRT and the Omicron line of test instruments.
4. Vector test designers can now configure and assign binary outputs and binary inputs/timers entirely in code for full, dynamic, settings-driven test configuration.
Additionally, a number of important enhancements have been made to existing Vector features. This includes the addition of new formula driven fields to the timer configurations and to the FastFault interface.  Also, Vector has the ability to import external fault data into existing, previously configured test frameworks.

New Training Class: Relay Basics 100

Attend the class at the Enoserv Training Facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma during November 8-10, 2011 and you will receive presentations on:

  • The What-Why-Who-Where-How of relay protection
  • Problem solving and the relay technician
  • Tools of the Trade - language of relay protection, print reading, test equipment and more
  • Station specific overview - specific protection requirements for distribution, transmission and generation stations
  • Basic mathematics for relay techs (answers the question "Do I really need a degree in math to be a Relay Tech?")
  • Ground Directional Relay IRD-9 - study of the electro-mechanical overcurrent and ohmic relay
  • Introduction to digital relays - study of architecture, logic, and programming of SEL-751 distribution relay
